Fundraising is bad! (Carnival of Nonprofit Consultants)
This week, the Carnival conducted a highly scientific poll of nonprofit professionals on the question Is fundraising good or bad? Results were shocking and amazing:
- 60% of our sample said bad.
- 20% said good.
- 20% were classified by our team of researchers as "other."
Below is our complete research:
- At Nonprofit Communications, Kivi looks at some of the less attractive facets of the business in Why I Don't Write Grant Applications or Direct Appeals.
- Katya's Non-Profit Marketing Blog looked at it both ways. The good: What is good: being relentlessly generous as well as the bad: My four year old knows bad marketing.
- Gayle Roberts, of Inspiring Gifts that Transform, took a more measured look at it, giving some hints for the would-be nonprofit worker in Help wanted: Good pay and benefits.
- Sherri Garrity at Ready, Aim, Inspire focused on one aspect of fundraising badness, the way we talk about it: The bad language of fundraising.
Next week the Carnival moves back to its home at Nonprofit Communications. Let's hope Kivi can come up with something more encouraging than I did!
